The Power of a Name: Africa Rebrand Agenda 2030

A Call to Action

For every country in Africa to embrace its true identity by changing its name, and for Africa as a continent to redefine itself by 2030.

Reclaiming Our Identity: A New Name, A New Future for Africa

Africa stands on the threshold of a profound transformation—one that begins with reclaiming its identity, redefining its purpose, and reshaping its future. For centuries, the name Africa has been tied to colonial imposition, external narratives, and a history of exploitation. But now, the continent has the opportunity to choose a name that reflects its true essence—one of strength, unity, and self-reliance.

This moment of change aligns with a broader shift: Africa’s transition from dependency to self-sufficiency. The recent termination of USAID funding by the United States is not a setback but a wake-up call—an invitation for Africa to redefine itself, moving from a beneficiary to a benefactor. A new name for the continent would symbolize this rebirth, a break from imposed labels, and the beginning of an era where Africa funds its own development, invests in its own people, and dictates its own economic trajectory.

Imagine a name that embodies the richness of our cultures, the resilience of our people, and the boundless potential of our lands. A name rooted in our heritage yet forward-looking—one that tells the world we are no longer shackled by the past but are architects of our own destiny. This symbolic shift must be accompanied by tangible action: mobilizing Africa’s vast resources, strengthening intra-continental trade, and fostering innovation that fuels sustainable growth.

A Continent of Excellence

The time has come to reclaim our narrative, not just in words but in deeds. A new Africa—one that names itself, funds itself, and shapes its own future—is on the horizon. Will we rise to the challenge?

Oh, Africa, what is your true name? What is your purpose? What is your essence?

Awaken, Africa, and reclaim your power. Search deep within, and your name will emerge.

No longer shall you be associated with lack, poverty, sickness, wars, coups, and dependence. Stand tall, shake off the ideology of enslavement, and walk away from the shadows of colonial rule.

You are rich—your earth holds treasures beyond measure: gold, silver, bauxite, rutile, lithium, diamonds, and platinum. Your crops nourish the world. From sheep to oxen, from cocoa to coffee—your produce fuels global economies, filling corporate halls with the aroma of your excellence.

What is the Meaning of Africa?

As your name is, so are you. But what does Africa mean?

  • The Greeks called you Libya.

  • The Romans named you Africa.

  • The Arabic term firk or frik means "separate, divide, conquer."

  • The Egyptian word Afru-ika means "birthplace" or "Motherland."

If you are the Motherland, then embrace your role as a mother to the nations. No longer allow yourself and your children to be divided, conquered, or plundered. Provide a safe haven for your people, protecting them from foreign invasions and exploitation. Everything you need to rise above all others is within you.

If you are the mother, hear your children’s cries—for justice, for direction, for solidarity, for honor, for glory.

Reclaim What Has Been Stolen

"Plunder! Plunder! Plunder!" the invaders shouted—and plundered you have been. But now, cry out for justice! Gather your strength, pursue, overtake, and recover all that is yours—your gold, your silver, your minerals, your wealth scattered across the world. Drive out the plunderers.

Do not negotiate with thieves in sheep’s clothing. They hand you weapons to kill your own children, convincing you they are too many. But know this—the more children you have, the greater your strength. The fewer you have, the weaker you become.

Mama, are you still sleeping? There is fire on the mountain! Rise, run, rescue your children from foreign lands, and bring them home. Take up your spear and pursue your enemies until they flee before you.

The Time Is Now

Your children are waiting for you to take your place. The games are about to begin, and your presence is needed. Arise, Mother Africa, and let the games commence!

Each nation, each tribe, each people—standing together as one:

  • One continent

  • One nation

  • One people

  • One purpose

  • One destiny

  • One resource

  • One border

  • One currency

  • One voice

Roar, Africa, roar! Let the world hear your cry—a cry for freedom, justice, unity, and prosperity for all. No longer shall your sons and daughters be marginalized. No more divide and conquer.

Each nation rises, reflecting on its true name. We cast off the chains of colonial identity and declare who we truly are. No longer will we accept names that enslave, diminish our children, or weaken our resolve. No—we rise, we choose our name, and we reveal our strength.

We have our ears to the ground. We will not tolerate the wicked schemes of those who seek to divide us. It is time to build—not just for today, but for eternity. Build until there is nothing left to build. Build in solidarity, for God has declared that when you are united with one purpose, nothing will be impossible for you.

Garner the courage and begin to build. Your children stand ready to build with you.

Hand in hand, we rise. We walk. We run. We fly. We soar.

Africa, what is your name? For your name is your destiny.
